London to Brighton 2012

On Sunday 4 November 2012, 449 pre-1905 vehicles left Hyde Park Corner heading for the Sussex coast in the annual London to Brighton Veteran Car Run. Jonathan was delighted to take part in this year’s run, driving a 1904 De Dion Bouton Twin Cylinder kindly loaned by a customer. Having last year completed the run on a Quadra cycle, this year’s entrant made for a civilised drive by comparison!

Battling against torrential rain and the bitter cold, we completed the 63-mile journey without any trouble and the car ran beautifully. Thankfully, the weather improved at Crawley making hill-climbing over the South Downs the only challenge. Drawing into Madeira Drive was a magnificent sight, being surrounded by such an amazing collection of fabulous veteran cars.  The London to Brighton Run is a wonderful event to take part in and thoroughly recommended to anyone who might be tempted!
