Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace

We had a fantastic time at this year’s Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace. An event that brings together 60 of the rarest cars from around the world, we were proud to be part of it.

The highlight of the weekend was supporting a client of ours with his stunning 1925 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, a car that we have now looked after for a number of years. Having recently won Best in Class at Goodwood Festival of Speed, this wonderful car took pride of place directly outside the Palace and was awarded second prize for the ‘Best pre-1940 English Coachbuilt Car Class’.

Our stand this year featured two of our current sales cars: a 1938 Derby Bentley 4 1/4 with spectacular high vision coupe coachwork and a 1920 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Alpine Eagle. This car was invited onto the stage where Jonathan explained its special history to the audience.  Being an original car, with only 65,000 miles from new, it received a lot of attention over the weekend and, unlike most cars joining the stage, its engine was left to silently tick over during the interview!  The perfect testament to the mechanical excellence of Silver Ghosts.

This year’s Best of Show (voted for by the concours’ participants) was a 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III carrying drop head coupe coachwork by Inskip. The car that particularly captured our attention was a magnificent 1927 Bentley 3 Litre Speed Model carrying unique two-seater boat tail coachwork by Martin Walter. This has to be one of the finest examples of a 3 Litre Bentley in existence.

It was a delight to see so many familiar faces over the weekend as well as meet many new. Thank you to everyone involved for making it such a memorable event.
